My first major construction project with a team of people building a shed from foundation to finish in one week. Weatherproof, perfectly square, and built for toughness.

What this project shows

The shed was my first major construction project with a team, and the pace made it feel very real. We started with two large logs as the base because the shed needed to be movable with a tractor, then built the structure up from there.

There were a lot of details that had to happen in the right order: squaring the base, framing the walls, building the trusses, adding AdvanTech, cutting window openings, and getting the roof ready for metal. If one step was sloppy, the next one became harder.

The round archway and trim were the parts that made the shed feel finished instead of just framed. By the end of the week, it was weatherproof, square, tough, and much more polished than I expected from such a fast build.

The shed started with a simple base made from two large logs and was built from there. We started that way because we wanted to be able to move the shed with a tractor to the desired spot. From there, we squared the base, framed the entire structure, built the trusses, and started adding a layer of AdvanTech to create stronger walls and a stronger base.

We then started to frame out all the windows and cut the openings so we could later fit in the windows, along with the hand-milled and crafted frames.

Next, we had to set the rest of the AdvanTech onto the walls and then install the roofing.

We were almost finished with the entire shed. We set down all of the trim to seal the sides and make it look finished. We also added a watertight seal on the roof so we could install the metal roofing without a problem. Finally, we started on the round archway, which was the hardest part of the whole build. The final touch was to plug all the screw holes on the windows and paint everything.
